Veta Chloe Gordon, affectionately known as Mama Chloe, Aunt Chloe, Grandma, or Ms. Chloe, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, April 16th. Born in Richmond Land, St. Mary, Jamaica, on March 30th, 1946, to Daphne Muriel Vowsden and Gideon Sinclair, she was a beacon of love, kindness, and unwavering faith.
Chloe was a devoted mother to Nicklaus A. Shoultz and Dwight M. Black, and is preceded in death by her daughter, Marcilyn Shoultz. She was a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to four. She is also survived by her siblings Leary, Janet, Maureen, and Wallace in London, and Rella, Douglas, Linton, Joan, and Chevans in Jamaica, along with numerous other extended family members.
After her early education and life in St. Mary and St. Thomas, Jamaica, Chloe married Mr. Junior Gordon in 1974. She served her community with dedication and integrity as a Post Mistress for many years. Chloe was also a talented baker, known for her legendary Christmas cakes.
In 1996, she moved to the United States, where she continued her compassionate spirit by working as a Certified Nurse Assistant, caring for others with the same warmth she extended to her family. Chloe was a woman of deep faith, actively ministering at the Port Maria Baptist Church, and found great joy in her family and friends.
She will be remembered by all who knew her for her loving, humble, and profoundly kind nature, deeply rooted in her relationship with Jesus Christ. Veta Chloe Gordon's legacy of faith, service, and love will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
