In Loving Memory of Hezekiah N. Matthew
Hezekiah Nathaniel Matthew (Browne), best known as Heze, was born on November 2, 1948, on the island of St. Kitts, West Indies. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Dellon Browne, mother, Violet Ann Semper Matthew Browne, and several siblings, and other relatives near and far, most recently brothers Robert and James Matthew, sister Louisa Browne, and nieces Wilhelmina and Suzie.
Hezekiah is survived by his children: Sonia Browne Liverpool and Fitzroy Matthew, along with their spouses Herb and Donna, and four grandchildren, LaRonde, Nathaniel, Zion, and Chloe.
He also leaves to mourn his passing five siblings: Millicent, Josephine, Frances, Richard, and Lestroy, many nieces and nephews and a host of cherished relatives and precious friends at home and abroad too numerous to mention.
Heze migrated to New York City and settled in the Bronx, where he continued to reside until his passing. Heze had a zeal for life and an undying love for family.
Heze was well known for his flashy style of dressing, in a plethora of styles and colors, most favorably red, burgundy, and white. His favorite pastime was being in the company of his family, with whom he celebrated many milestone occasions. He was also a faithful worker, who was committed to fulfilling his duties above and beyond the expectations ascribed to them.
Heze will be lovingly remembered as being a kind, caring and compassionate human being who was always willing to give freely of everything he had to those he held dear. Those closest to him will remember him as being a show-stopping pioneer…always moving about breaking new ground, always advancing, never just doing nothing. He lived life with zeal, zest, passion and vigor and provided bountifully for his family and was a way-maker for many. He had a heart for God and an unbiased love of family that was a bright star in his crown. Yet at times these passions would make haste and give way to his love of grandeur. May the love he shared be a shining example to all, and fond memories of him bring peace and comfort to all who knew and loved him and now mourn his passing.
MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE!
