It is with gratitude that we remember the life of Alpheus O'Connor (Mitch), a beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. Born on October 9, 1948, in New Longsville, Clarendon, Jamaica, Alpheus was the son of Bartholomew and Miriam O'Connor. He was one of eleven children, and throughout his life, he held a special place in the hearts of his family and friends.
Mitch's journey was one of resilience and dedication. He was united in marriage to his wife, Carlene, on June 30, 1974. Together, they built a family filled with devotion and support. He was the proud father of Jenise, Harriett , and Larsen , and a loving grandfather to his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchild who brought even more light into his life.
Mitch worked for many years in the hospitality industry in Jamaica, where his warm personality and dedication to service earned him the respect and admiration of those around him. In June of 1993, he migrated to the United States, where he continued his professional journey in the healthcare and retail industries. His work ethic and commitment to excellence followed him throughout his career, and even after retiring, he remained a source of inspiration for those fortunate enough to have worked with him.
Mitch is survived by his wife Carlene; children Jenise O'Connor (Jerome Brown), Harriett O'Connor (Darlington Brown), Larsen O'Connor (Ann Marie). His grandchildren Oko Odaji, Nicholas, Amiera, and Ambree Brown, and great-grandchild Amethyst Odaji. Alpheus shared a special bond with his siblings, especially sisters Joan Satchell and Winnifred Murray . His connection with his nieces, nephews, and extended family was a testament to the warmth and care he always showed to those around him.
He was predeceased by his parents Bartholomew and Miriam O'Connor, brothers Sidges Wright, Ralph, Sonny, Roy, Ronald, Reneth O'Connor, and sisters Dotsy and Sonia Patterson (nee O'Connor).
Mitch was a man of strength and integrity. His relationship to his family will forever be remembered. Though he has left us in physical form, his spirit lives on in each of us, in the memories we cherish, and the lessons he imparted.
May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that his legacy will continue through the generations he leaves behind. We will forever carry him in our hearts.
